Indian Labour Law working hours:
Indian Labour Law working hours states that a worker must complete 18 years and should work not more than 9 hours in a day and a spread over should not be more than 10-1/2 hours. 4.1966 Beedi & Cigar Workers Act, a total working period in a day should not exceed 10 hours and 54 hours a week including overtime.
5.Contract Labour Act 1970, a contractor should maintain a register in form XXIII to enter details of overtime along with the pay of an employee.
Average working hours in India, according to the Minimum wages Act should not exceed 12 hours a day including rest period and by the provision of 1948 Factories Act, persons in between ages of 15 – 18 should not work more than 4-1/2 hours and spread should not exceed 5 hours. Employee working hours in India are – Government offices 09:30 to 17:30 ( Monday-Friday) and Saturday till 14:00, Banks – 10:00 to 15:00 ( Monday to Friday and Saturdays till 13:00), and for stores 09:00 to 19:00 ( Monday to Saturday).
